Trachoma is often referred to as the disease of the poor. People wash their hands and faces in dirty water and their eyes become infected. If anti-bacterial eye drops are not administered, the person will eventually go blind.
Today more than one million children under 10 years of age have an active case of trachoma. In many cases, this debilitating disease can be cured simply with antibacterial eye drops. Clients can easily carry several boxes of drops that could prevent dozens of children from going blind.
We encourage you to solicit for donations of eye drops from local medical centers and bring them with you to Tanzania. You can drop off your donation at the Kilimanjaro Medical Center.
