Rhinos

Rhinos in the Serengeti are protected from poachers by armed guard

Due to heavy poaching, the rhinoceros has become scarce. Their tusks are in demand in Asia as an aphrodisiac and in some Arab countries as a handle for daggers. Rhinos are solitary animals that only socialize during the mating season. They are territorial and extremely aggressive.

Ngorongoro Crater offers you the best chance to see the rhinoceros. There are currently about 20 in the crater. These magnificent yet fierce creatures are a sight to see. They're often seen at a distance, but that's probably for the best, since rhinos are aggressive animals and will charge if they feel threatened.

Rhinos can be very aggressive. You don't want to get within 50 yards of one.
