Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park often gets overshadowed by it's more famous sister parks. Great! Now you won't have to fight the crowds. Although Tarangire is not the largest park in Tanzania, it does offer the largest congregation of animals between June and November, the peak travel season. The Tarangire river offers a permanent water source that attracts large herds of zebra, hartebeest, eland, gazelle, impala and wildebeest. Large herds of elephants, up to 300 in a group, can be seen nestled along the famous baobab trees. Birds are also abundant, especially between October and May.
Tarangire is located southeast of Lake Manyara, making it one of the closest parks to Arusha and Moshi. If your time is limited, this is definitely a must-see park for a 3 - day safari or an excellent final stop on a longer 7- day safari. If you're visiting Africa during the dry season, adding this park to your itinerary is essential since it does have a permanent water source to attract more animals.
